About
Hello!
I create tiny, intricate worlds in resin. I blend small painted scenes and found specimens such as real grass, lichen, feathers, gemstones, and ethically sourced bones into dimensional resin artwork and jewelry. Each piece is hand painted with toothpicks and brushes, embedded in epoxy, then polished into delicate, dreamlike 3-D landscapes populated by woodland creatures and magical symbols. I've been crafting with resin for over 25 years and create art full time from my home studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
My work is inspired by the natural world, landscapes, flora + fauna, and by places I visit. I grew up on a farm in the mountains near Waynesville, North Carolina. I spent many afternoons collecting little odds and ends that I found on our land like bird nests, feathers, interesting clumps of dirt, moss, leaves, cool rocks, bones, fur, twigs, bugs, and other tiny things. I continue that tradition of collecting and gathering in my paintings and line of resin jewelry today. I have always been a collector and scavenger. I love finding unusual natural objects and specimens and I love incorporating this passion into my creations!
I studied at North Carolina School of the Arts, in France, Italy, and Nepal, and received a BFA degree in sculpture at the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2000.
You can find my work in stores and galleries throughout the US and abroad, as well as at various craft shows throughout the country.
I also really like and am often inspired by: Ornithology, dioramas, road trips, astrology, ghosts, gem shows, the desert, botany, reliquaries, the moon, maps, iconography, miniatures, weather, ancient history, relics, owl pellets, geology, dreams, and fires....
I moved back to Asheville, NC with my husband and our now 16 year old son after a 10 year hiatus in the Pacific Northwest.
Thanks so much for visiting!
